Khuzaima Tanveer’s 29-ball blitz
Khuzaima Tanveer flipped the chase in a handful of overs, turning a steady pursuit into a sprint as United Arab Emirates hunted down 145 with 19 balls remaining. After UAE were 52/2 in the powerplay, Tanveer’s clean striking ensured there was no late squeeze, and the chase finished at 150/4 in 16.5 overs for a six-wicket win.
Malaysia’s middle-overs stall
The game’s shape was set when Malaysia couldn’t sustain their powerplay surge. They raced to 60/1 at 10 an over, but the middle overs brought a sharp slowdown: 57/3 at 5.7 an over from overs 7–15. That left Malaysia needing a big finish, yet the death phase yielded only 27/2, keeping the total to 144/6 rather than stretching beyond it.
Four names that shaped it
Tanveer was the clear match-winner: 69 off 29 at a strike rate of 238, plus 2/22 with the ball. Aayan Afzal Khan’s 3/18 was equally important in trimming Malaysia’s momentum after the fast start. For Malaysia, Virandeep Singh’s 32 off 30 anchored their best stand (41 with Wahid), while Syed Aziz’s 28 off 17 provided the early lift that ultimately wasn’t matched later.
A chase steadied, then surged
UAE’s pursuit had a brief wobble early, but the innings settled decisively through the middle. The key was the 78-run partnership between Tanish Suri and Rahul Chopra, which absorbed the post-powerplay period and kept the required rate under control. Malaysia’s best resistance came via Prashant Madhukar’s 2/19, but once the middle overs went at 7.8 an over (79/2), the pressure shifted permanently to the fielding side.
