Ritu MoniR. MoniBryce breaks the chase
Kathryn Bryce’s clean striking flipped the game in a handful of overs, as Scotland Women hunted down 134 with 26 balls to spare to win by eight wickets. After Bangladesh posted 133/5, Scotland’s chase briefly wobbled at 42/1 in the powerplay, but Bryce’s tempo never dipped. Her 54 off 32, capped by a decisive burst in the middle overs, ensured the target was reeled in with minimal late drama.
Middle-overs surge settles it
The match was effectively decided in Scotland’s middle phase: 92/1 at a run-rate of 9.5. Once Bryce set, Bangladesh couldn’t slow the scoring without wickets, and the asking rate kept shrinking. Scotland moved from consolidation to control quickly, turning a manageable chase into a one-sided finish; by the time the 15th over ended, the required runs were down to single digits.
Bryce and Fontenla set tone
Bryce was the difference-maker, combining intent with control to top-score and take the chase away. Fontenla’s economy up front and through her spell ensured Bangladesh never got a free passage, while Kirstie Gordon’s 1/21 added control in the middle. Katherine Fraser’s 28 off 30 provided the steady support that allowed Bryce to attack without risk, and Scotland’s best stand of 54 with Sarah Bryce finished the job.
Bangladesh’s start left them short
Bangladesh were forced to rebuild after a powerplay of 26/2, and that early drag shaped their innings. Nigar Sultana’s 46 off 39 anchored the recovery, and her 42-run stand with Sobhana Mostary gave them a platform, but the acceleration came late rather than sustained. Scotland’s attack, led by Gabriella Fontenla’s 1/11 in four overs, kept boundary options limited and prevented a total that could truly pressure the chase.
