About Global T20 Canada

Global T20 Canada is a franchise Twenty20 league in Canada run by Cricket Canada.

What it is

Global T20 Canada is a short, sharp league with six teams and a simple idea. It brings Canadian players together with international names in one competition, and that mix is still the main reason to look twice. Cricket Canada launched it in 2018, and the early editions were played at Maple Leaf Cricket Club in King City, Ontario.

A stop and a restart

The first run of the tournament felt lively, then it stopped after 2019. That break is part of the story, because leagues like this need rhythm and this one lost it. It came back in 2023, which gave it a second life rather than a straight continuation.

Why it stands out

The winners tell you this league hasn't settled into one power. Vancouver Knights took the first edition. Winnipeg Hawks won the 2019 final in a super over, Montreal Tigers won on the return, and Toronto Nationals are the reigning champions after the latest title. The numbers in our archive show a shift too. Scores and six hitting were much higher in 2019 than they are now, which suggests the batting isn't quite as free. Chris Lynn has the most runs in our records, and Dilpreet Singh Bajwa's hundred for Brampton Wolves in 2024 is the standout innings.

2026 season

Toronto Nationals are the reigning champions (2024); no team has won the title more than once in 4 editions. The 2026 season starts on 23 October 2026 with Toronto Kings vs Vancouver Guardians, with 3 teams taking part.
