About Pakistan Cup
The Pakistan Cup is Pakistan’s domestic one day List A tournament, organised by the Pakistan Cricket Board.
What it is
This is Pakistan’s main one day competition, played over 50 overs a side. It sits in the List A space, so it matters in a different way from T20. That’s a big part of its appeal. You get time for an innings to breathe, room for bowlers to work batters out, and a clearer read on who can really build and control a match.
Where it came from
The tournament has run under the Pakistan Cup name since 2016. It grew out of the Pentangular One Day Cup and has shifted with the wider domestic game in Pakistan. Provincial sides were part of its story, then the PCB domestic restructure brought in six regional associations. That change gave the competition a different feel, and the latest version has also featured city and regional teams, which makes the page worth checking even if you haven’t followed every reform.
Why it stays interesting
The recent editions have had enough movement to keep it from feeling fixed or stale. The 2023-24 final was won by Peshawar against Karachi Whites, so the current champion is Peshawar Region. That mix of old domestic ideas and new team identities is what makes the Pakistan Cup more than a box ticking tournament. It shows how Pakistan cricket keeps trying to reshape itself, and you can usually see that on the field as much as on any structure chart.
2023 season
Peshawar Region won the most recent final (2023). The 2023 season is complete: Peshawar Region won the final on 19 November 2023.
