Akram’s powerplay blitz sets tone
Wasim Akram took the game away early, smashing 79 off 43 to give Speen Ghar Tigers a platform that ultimately decided the night. After the Tigers posted 180/7, Band-e-Amir Dragons’ chase never fully stabilised and ended at 158 all out in 19.4 overs, handing the Tigers a 22-run win built on early dominance and timely strikes.
76/1 powerplay proved decisive
The match swung in the first six overs, when the Tigers surged to 76/1 at 12.7 an over. That burst meant even a sharp slowdown in the middle — 55/4 at just 5.5 an over — didn’t derail them. With the Dragons forced to chase a steep rate from ball one, every dot and wicket carried extra weight, and the required rate stayed ahead of them despite a steadier middle phase.
Akram, Alam and key spells
Akram was the standout, combining clean hitting with tempo control to anchor the Tigers’ best partnership of 76 with Zubaid Akbari. Ismat Alam’s 49 off 28 ensured the innings regained speed after the middle-overs wobble. For the Dragons, Izharulhaq Naveed’s 2/33 was the most effective spell in containing damage, while Azizullah Miakhil’s 33 off 20 provided the sharpest counterpunch in a chase that never quite found a long enough surge.
Dragons’ chase kept lurching
Band-e-Amir’s pursuit was undermined by early damage: 47/3 in the powerplay left them rebuilding rather than dictating terms. A 40-run stand between Zadran and Haroon Khan briefly restored momentum through the middle overs, but wickets kept interrupting any sustained assault. Even with 40 coming in the death at 10.4 an over, the chase remained a catch-up act, and the innings finally collapsed before the full 20.
