Dicholkar breaks the chase
Yash Dicholkar’s spell was the turning point that made a tight finish possible, even as SoBo Mumbai Falcons eventually edged home by 3 wickets with 5 balls remaining. Chasing 153, they started fast but were dragged into a scrap when wickets kept falling through the middle. The Royals had enough runs to defend if they could squeeze at the death, but the Falcons’ final push took them to 156/7 in 19.1 overs.
Royals’ middle-overs stall
The game was largely set up by MSC Maratha Royals losing momentum after a flying powerplay. They raced to 71/2, with Sahil Jadhav striking 52 off 30, but the middle overs yielded only 56/4 at 5.6 an over. Dicholkar and Akash Parkar hit hard in that phase, and the Royals never regained the same tempo, managing just 25/3 in the last five to finish at 152/9.
Dicholkar and Tare stand out
Dicholkar was the standout, finishing with 3/25 from four overs and ensuring the Royals’ powerplay advantage didn’t translate into a match-winning total. Parkar’s 3/22 in three overs provided the other key bursts that kept the Royals to a chaseable score. For the Falcons, Tare’s high-impact cameo and the stabilising stand with Mulchandani were the backbone of the pursuit, while Jadhav’s brisk fifty remained the Royals’ best chance to put the game out of reach.
Tare sets, wickets bite back
Aditya Tare’s 42 off 19 gave the Falcons a platform, and his 57-run partnership with Mulchandani kept the chase ahead of the rate. But once the middle overs began, the Royals’ bowlers tightened and struck regularly, leaving the Falcons five down in the middle phase and then 124/7. Maxwell Swaminathan’s 2/25 was central to that squeeze, forcing a nervy final stretch before the visitors closed it out.
