Kundu sets, death overs explode
Abhigyan Kundu’s calm 53 off 41 balls gave North Mumbai Panthers the innings shape, and the finish supplied the knockout punch. After a relatively even middle, Panthers ripped away in the final stretch to post 177/5, a total that kept climbing just when Eagle Thane Strikers needed a quiet finish. The response began with intent, but the wickets kept coming, and the Strikers were bowled out for 113 in 15.3 overs, losing by 64 runs.
Death-overs surge breaks contest
The game swung hardest in the last five overs of the Panthers’ innings. From a manageable position after 15 overs, they blasted 59 runs in the death at 14.8 an over, turning a competitive score into a daunting one. That late acceleration meant the Strikers’ powerplay momentum couldn’t be enough; even at 61/4 after six overs, they were already chasing a rate that would only rise. Once the middle overs slowed to 52/6, the chase had no runway left.
Kundu anchors, Mali shuts doors
Kundu’s innings was the glue, allowing Hardik Tamore’s 43 off 29 and Tanush Kotian’s 37 off 19 to play with freedom when the finish line came into view. With the ball, Vaibhav Mali (2/14) and Pravesh Pal (2/15) strangled the recovery attempts, forcing the Strikers into low-percentage shots. Shashikant Kadam’s 2/26 was a rare bright spot, but the Panthers’ late hitting had already tilted the match beyond reach.
Early fireworks, then reality bites
With no clear pre-match indicators to lean on, the match hinged on execution under pressure. The Strikers actually showed how this pitch could be scored on in the powerplay, but their approach came with risk and the early damage left them needing a long, stable partnership that never arrived (best: 27). In contrast, Panthers absorbed the quieter middle overs and still had the batting depth to cash in late, a classic template for a 20-over win.
