Fleming leaves CSK after trophy-laden run, Hetmyer called up vs NZ — cricket digest 13 Jul 2026
CSK and Fleming part ways, ending one of the IPL’s longest coaching stints
Stephen Fleming has stepped down as Chennai Super Kings head coach, with the franchise saying the two parties have mutually agreed to end their partnership after “open and honest discussions”. Fleming also finished his coaching roles with Joburg Super Kings in the SA20 and Texas Super Kings in Major League Cricket.
Fleming’s time with CSK brought five IPL titles (2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, 2023) and two Champions League T20 crowns (2010, 2014), plus a record 12 playoff appearances and ten finals. The decision follows a run of leaner seasons for CSK, including an eighth-place finish in IPL 2026, and came hours after Texas Super Kings ended bottom of MLC 2026; CSK have not yet announced any changes to other support staff such as Mike Hussey and Eric Simons.
West Indies bring in Hetmyer as Greaves’ back injury rules him out of NZ ODIs
Shimron Hetmyer has been added to West Indies’ squad for the second and third ODIs against New Zealand, replacing Justin Greaves, who has returned to Barbados to continue rehab on a back injury. Greaves had already missed the opening match in Providence.
Hetmyer, who last played an ODI in June 2025, was initially left out of the first three games to complete his MLC stint with Seattle Orcas, but their fifth-place finish freed him up. West Indies lead the series 1-0 after a seven-wicket win in the first ODI, with the first three matches in Providence and the final two in Bridgetown; Greaves will be reassessed ahead of the last two ODIs and the subsequent Test series against Pakistan.
