Seifert shuts the door

Tim Seifert’s clean striking removed any suspense from the chase, as Manchester Super Giants cruised to a 10-wicket win with 33 balls remaining. After their bowlers bundled Sunrisers Leeds out for 127, Seifert and Paul Walter never let the target breathe, racing through the innings in 11.1 overs and sealing it with an unbeaten 128-run stand.

Sunrisers’ middle-overs collapse

The match swung decisively in the middle phase of Leeds’ innings. They were 36/0 in the powerplay, but the tempo vanished as wickets began to fall and the run rate dipped to 6.2 in the middle overs. From 75/5, the lower order couldn’t reset, and the last five wickets added only 16 runs as Manchester kept hitting hard lengths and attacking the stumps.

Seifert’s burst, Walter’s support

Seifert’s 81 from 40 balls (strike rate 202) was the defining act, combining power with smart placement to keep the chase ahead of the rate from the start. Walter’s unbeaten 44 off 28 provided the steady second hand, and his tidy 1/4 in a single over underlined Manchester’s control across disciplines. Atkinson’s three-wicket spell was the key that turned a good powerplay into a below-par total.

Atkinson and Baker squeeze hard

Leeds’ best passage was the opening partnership of 40 between Ryan Rickelton and Mitchell Marsh, which gave them a platform. But once the first breakthrough arrived, the fielding side tightened immediately: Gus Atkinson’s 3/30 and Sonny Baker’s 2/22 ensured there was no counterpunch. The pressure told late, with Leeds losing their final five wickets for 16 and being bowled out in 16.4 overs.
