Tandel breaks the backbone
Mayuresh Tandel’s four-over spell was the turning point that flipped a high-scoring start into a defendable chase, and it set up SoBo Mumbai Falcons’ 7-wicket win with 11 balls remaining. North Mumbai Panthers looked set when Abhigyan Kundu blazed away early, but once the middle overs arrived, wickets kept falling and the innings never recovered from the squeeze.
Middle-overs collapse decides it
The match was effectively won in the Panthers’ middle phase: after racing to 68/1 in the powerplay (11.3 rpo), they managed only 65/7 through the middle overs (6.5 rpo). That loss of momentum meant their hitters were forced into low-percentage shots at the back end, and the death overs brought just 24/2. In a game where the chase was completed in 18.1, those quiet middle overs and the steady drip of wickets were decisive.
Mulchandani anchors, Tandel stars
Mulchandani’s 66 off 45 (SR 147) was the chase’s spine, combining tempo with risk management, while Waghela’s 45 off 30 (SR 150) provided the acceleration to stay ahead of the rate. For the Falcons with the ball, Tandel’s 4/30 earned MVP honours by turning a 76-run opening stand into a total of 157 all out. Yash Dicholkar’s 2/17 added further control, making the chase a measured pursuit rather than a scramble.
Chase steadied after early dents
SoBo’s reply had a brief wobble at 56/2 in the powerplay, keeping the Panthers in the contest, but the Mulchandani–Gautam Waghela stand drained the pressure. Their 77-run partnership rebuilt without stalling, ensuring the asking rate never spiked. By the time the chase entered its final stretch, SoBo needed only a controlled finish, and they closed it out calmly.
