Middle overs swing the chase

The match was decided in the middle overs, where Delhi flipped the tempo. Punjab’s new-ball burst left DC behind the rate, but the 7–15 over stretch belonged to the visitors: 111/2 in the middle phase at 11.1 an over, compared to PBKS’s 90/2 at 9.0. That surge meant the death overs became a manageable launchpad rather than a steep climb, and DC’s hitters could target matchups instead of simply surviving.

Iyer sets it up, Axar finishes it

Shreyas Iyer’s 59 off 36 anchored Punjab’s 72/0 powerplay and the best stand of 83, with Priyansh Arya’s 57 off 33 adding the early punch. Why the PBKS edge didn’t hold

Pre-match numbers leaned heavily Punjab: stronger season run-rate, a clear Elo gap, and a lineup impact advantage. But those edges depend on controlling phases, and PBKS couldn’t convert a flying start into scoreboard pressure with the ball.
