Powerplay damage, lasting impact
The game was effectively won in the first six overs of Hungary’s innings. Reduced to 35/4 in the powerplay, Hungary spent the middle overs in repair mode, scoring just 42/2 at 4.2 an over. That early collapse meant even a strong finish couldn’t fully compensate, and Romania’s chase could be paced without panic despite losing three wickets in their own powerplay.
Husain leads; Saini-Iroshan finish
Husain was the standout, finishing with 4/19 from four overs to choke Hungary’s scoring and force errors. Ali Nawaz top-scored with 41 off 31, providing the backbone of Hungary’s recovery. For Romania, Saini’s 36 off 30 and Iroshan’s 30 off 26 were the chase-defining contributions, absorbing the pressure created by Saqlain and allowing Romania to close the game out comfortably.
Hungary’s late push, brief squeeze
Hungary did fight back through a 69-run partnership between Matthew Ainsworth and Ali Nawaz, which dragged the innings into respectability and set up a lively final stretch.
