Iyer’s middle-overs surge
Shreyas Iyer took control as soon as the chase threatened to get sticky, turning a steady start into a sprint and sealing a five-wicket win with 19 balls remaining. After Triumph Knights MNE posted 147/8, SoBo Mumbai Falcons’ chase was shaped by Iyer’s 61 off 36, which kept the asking rate in check and ensured there was no late scramble as they reached 149/5 in 16.4 overs.
Triumph’s powerplay damage
The match was largely decided in the first six overs of Triumph’s innings. They crawled to 29/2 in the powerplay, leaving too much for the middle and death overs to repair. Even though they scored at 8.4 an over through the middle, the early wickets meant they were always chasing momentum, and the total never got beyond a par score on a ground where the Falcons later scored at 8.2 in their own powerplay.
Dake and Iyer define finish
Dake was the game’s MVP for turning a potentially 160-plus innings into 147/8. In the chase, Iyer’s strike rate of 169 did the heavy lifting, with a best partnership of 43 giving the Falcons a stable platform before he accelerated. Hitesh Kadam’s 2/34 offered Triumph a flicker, but Iyer’s control through the middle overs ensured the target was always within reach.
Dake squeezes, Yadav counters
Prathamesh Dake’s spell was the key pressure point. His 4/30 repeatedly halted Triumph’s attempts to accelerate, and the wickets ensured the Knights couldn’t build beyond their best stand of 56 between Nutan Goel and Suryakumar Yadav. Yadav briefly flipped the tempo with a 48 off 24, but each burst was met by another breakthrough, and Triumph’s death overs produced only 34 runs while losing three more wickets.
