Muzarabani’s death-overs burst
Blessing Muzarabani turned a tense chase into a Zimbabwe win with a decisive late spell, closing out a 32-run victory after Bangladesh were bowled out for 138 in 19 overs. With the asking rate still manageable deep into the innings, Zimbabwe’s quicks hit hard lengths and forced errors, and the chase unravelled in a rush as wickets tumbled in the final stretch.
Bangladesh’s death-overs collapse
The game swung in the last five overs of the chase. Bangladesh managed only 14 runs for five wickets in the death phase (16-20), a dramatic slowdown after scoring at 8.1 an over through the middle. Zimbabwe’s bowlers squeezed boundaries and attacked the stumps, turning a pursuit that had hovered around the required rate into a scramble, before it became a collapse.
Bennett sets, quicks finish
Zimbabwe’s 170/6 was built around Brian Bennett’s 44 off 30 and useful support from Ryan Burl’s 31 off 25, with the best stand worth 38. Bangladesh fought back with Nahid Rana’s 4 for 26, but Zimbabwe still finished strongly at 9.5 an over in the death. Then Muzarabani (4/17) and Richard Ngarava (4/26) delivered the defining impact, ripping through the lower order to seal the defence.
Yasir and Mahedi revive chase
Bangladesh’s innings had already been jolted in the powerplay at 43/3, but Yasir Ali and Mahedi Hasan rebuilt with a 51-run stand that briefly restored momentum. Yasir’s 54 off 38 balls kept the chase alive through the middle overs, rotating strike and picking off the shorter balls. The pressure, though, never fully lifted: Zimbabwe’s fielding stayed tight and the required rate crept up as the boundary flow dried.
