Khalil Gurbaz flips the script
Khalil Gurbaz’s spell was the pivot that turned a flying start into a chaseable target, and it set up Mis Ainak Knights’ 3-wicket win with four balls remaining. Boost Defenders surged early, but once Gurbaz hit his lengths, the innings lost shape and momentum. The Knights’ chase began at full throttle, wobbled through the middle, and then steadied just in time to cross 181/7 in 19.2 overs.
Middle-overs squeeze, decisive
The game was won in the middle overs when Boost Defenders stumbled from 76/1 in the powerplay to a sluggish 58/5 through the middle phase. That collapse dragged their run rate down to 5.8 in overs 7–15, undoing Ibrahim Zadran’s early damage. With boundaries drying up and wickets falling, the Defenders were forced to rebuild rather than launch, and even a strong 44/1 at the death could only lift them to 178/7.
Gurbaz, Zadran, Sohail shape it
Ibrahim Zadran’s 64 off 30 was the standout for Boost Defenders, powering the 54-run opening stand and setting up the early 12.7 powerplay rate. The match, though, belonged to Khalil Gurbaz: his 4/21 repeatedly broke partnerships and forced a mid-innings reset. In the chase, Rahmanullah Gurbaz provided the surge, and Sohail Khan’s measured 45 off 41 ensured the Knights didn’t lose control when the middle overs tightened.
Powerplay punch, then pressure
Mis Ainak Knights’ chase was built on a ferocious powerplay: 91/3 at 15.2 an over, with Rahmanullah Gurbaz tearing into the new ball at a strike rate of 333. Boost Defenders fought back hard—Abdullah Tarakhail’s 3/21 and Noor Ahmad’s 2/33 slowed the middle to 63/4, and the required rate crept up as wickets fell. But the Knights kept their nerve, closing out the last stretch with 27 without loss in the death overs.
