Sher-Akram seize control

Akhter Pacha Sher’s counterpunch and Chaudhary Akram’s measured anchoring rewrote the match after Norway’s stuttering powerplay. From 15/3, the pair absorbed the early movement and then began targeting the gaps, turning the middle overs into a launchpad. Norway’s 150/8 proved far beyond Austria, who collapsed to 72 all out as Norway sealed a 78-run win.

Middle-overs surge decides it

The game was effectively won in Norway’s middle phase, where they piled on 81/1 at 8.1 an over. Sher’s 53 off 33 kept the pressure on the field, while Akram’s 57 off 45 ensured the innings didn’t stall. Austria’s best spell came from Shadnan Khan, but even his 4/34 couldn’t prevent Norway from setting up a total that demanded an above-par chase.

Sher, Akram set it up

Sher and Akram were the innings-defining partnership, combining for 87 and carrying Norway from early trouble into a defendable total. With the ball, Ahmadullah Shinwari’s 3/12 kept Austria pinned, and Farmanullah Ghari’s 3/10 in 2.4 overs finished the job with ruthless efficiency. Shadnan Khan’s four-wicket haul was Austria’s standout effort in a difficult defence.

Norway’s new-ball squeeze

Austria never found air in the chase as Norway’s bowlers struck repeatedly in the powerplay, leaving them 18/5 and chasing the game from the start. A brief attempt to stabilise came through a 38-run stand involving Baseer Khan, but the required rate and the steady fall of wickets meant the partnership only slowed the slide. When the middle overs ended at 54/9, the result was a formality.
