Tambe breaks Norway’s chase
Mahesh Tambe’s spell was the turning point that turned a lively chase into a scramble, as Finland sealed a 36-run win. Chasing 178, Norway stayed in touch through the middle overs, but Tambe’s strikes halted their momentum and left too much for the back end. When the pressure peaked, Norway’s finishing deserted them, and the chase fizzled to 141/9.
Finland’s death-overs surge
The game was effectively won in Finland’s final five overs. After a steady build through the powerplay (47/1) and middle phase (88/2), they finished with 42/4 at 10.5 an over to push the total beyond Norway’s comfort zone. Vanraaj Padhaal anchored the innings, and even as wickets fell late, Finland kept finding boundary options often enough to turn a competitive score into a demanding one.
Padhaal’s anchor, Tambe’s punch
Padhaal’s 83 from 58 balls (SR 143) was the innings that gave Finland room to attack late without panic. Tambe then delivered the match-winning burst with 4/27, repeatedly breaking partnerships and controlling the scoring. Amjad Sher’s 2/26 provided support at the other end, ensuring Norway never got a clean run at the target.
Akram-Raza stand, then squeeze
Norway’s response had a clear pulse when Chaudhary Akram and Faisal Raza put on 70, keeping the required rate manageable through the mid-innings. But Finland’s bowlers tightened the screws, and the chase pivoted sharply when Tambe struck in the middle-to-late overs, forcing new batters to start against a set field. From there, Norway’s death phase collapsed to 16/3, with boundaries drying up and singles becoming hard-earned.
