Renshaw turns it around
Matt Renshaw walked in with Australia wobbling and batted them out of trouble, his 89 off 52 powering a 7-run win. After the early damage at 44/3, he rebuilt with intent rather than caution, then accelerated hard enough to keep Bangladesh chasing a moving target. Even with Bangladesh flying early, the required rate never truly dipped once Australia’s middle overs took off.
Middle overs swing decisive
The match was effectively won in Australia’s middle phase: 110/2 at 11 an over from overs 7–16. That surge, anchored by Renshaw and finished off by Tim David, erased the slow powerplay and turned a par start into a commanding platform. Bangladesh’s bowlers couldn’t break the stand quickly enough, and the lack of wickets through that stretch meant Australia could still close with 42 without losing one at the death.
Renshaw leads, Nasum counters
Renshaw was the clear difference-maker, combining tempo and placement to dominate the key phase and then adding 1/13 in his two overs to tighten the chase. David’s 45 off 26 gave the innings its late punch and ensured the middle-overs platform became a 190-plus total. For Bangladesh, Nasum Ahmed’s 2/27 was the standout spell, keeping one end quiet even as the Renshaw-David partnership did the damage.
Bangladesh’s chase loses shape
Bangladesh began like a chase in control, racing to 72/1 in the powerplay, but the innings stalled once the field spread. Their middle overs returned 81/3 at 8.1 an over, and those wickets forced the hitters to reset rather than launch. By the time they reached the last five, the equation demanded sustained boundary-hitting; 36/2 in the death overs kept them close, but the chase ran out with 189/6.
