Glasgow’s burst breaks it

Jannillea Glasgow’s 25-ball 43 was the spark that turned West Indies Women’s innings into a chase-proof total, and Pakistan Women spent the rest of the night trying to catch up. After a brisk start and a decisive late surge, West Indies posted 199/6 and held their nerve to win by 25 runs, even as Pakistan kept swinging until the final overs.

Powerplay damage, lasting cost

The match was effectively shaped in the first six overs of Pakistan’s reply. West Indies flew to 61/1 in their powerplay, but Pakistan stumbled to 52/4, losing too many wickets to keep their required rate under control. From there, even a solid middle-overs effort couldn’t erase the early deficit: Pakistan’s mid-innings 86/2 kept them in touch, but the asking rate stayed stubbornly high.

Glasgow leads, Henry closes

Glasgow’s 43 at a strike rate of 172 gave West Indies momentum, while Hayley Matthews’ 40 off 20 and Stafanie Taylor’s 39 off 23 kept the scoring rate elevated. With the ball, Chinelle Henry’s 2/13 in just two overs was the standout spell, repeatedly forcing Pakistan to take risks. Shawnisha Hector (2/27) provided support, and West Indies’ combined discipline at the back end protected their 199.

Pressure swings, then squeeze

West Indies’ middle phase had a wobble at 89/4, but the 65-run stand between Glasgow and Chinelle Henry steadied the innings and set up a strong finish. Pakistan’s bowlers, led by Rameen Shamim’s 2/27, kept the contest alive by limiting clean hitting through the middle. In the chase, Pakistan’s best stand was only 35 (Aliya Riaz and Diana Baig), and once that was broken, West Indies’ death-overs control ensured the target stayed out of reach.
