Tucker-Delany flip the script
Lorcan Tucker and Gareth Delany turned Ireland’s innings from wobble to weapon, stitching the decisive 63-run stand that powered them beyond India’s early strikes. Ireland recovered from 36/3 in the powerplay to post 182/9, and that lift proved decisive when India’s chase unravelled after a blistering start. India were eventually bowled out for 148 in 18.5 overs, handing Ireland a 34-run win.
Middle overs decide the chase
The match was effectively won in India’s middle overs, where the chase slowed from a sprint to a crawl. India blasted 68/3 in the powerplay at 11 an over, but managed only 67/4 across the middle phase at 6.7. That drop in tempo forced a steep finish, and Ireland’s bowlers kept taking wickets often enough to prevent any reset.
Hollard and Humphreys close it
Matt Hollard’s 3/28 and Matthew Humphreys’ 3/38 were the decisive chasing-phase spells, arriving around the powerplay-to-middle transition and then again as India tried to launch late. Tucker’s 50 off 36 and Delany’s 49 off 32 provided the bulk of Ireland’s acceleration after early damage. Harshit Rana’s 3/24 kept India in touch with the ball, but Ireland’s total and Ireland’s middle-overs control proved too much.
Ireland’s squeeze, India’s slide
Ireland’s fielding side absorbed the early punch, then built pressure with tight spells and regular breakthroughs. Abhishek Sharma’s 20-ball fifty had India ahead of the rate, but once the new-ball burst ended, boundaries dried up and the chase became stop-start. The best India could manage was a 35-run stand, and the death overs brought only 13 runs for three wickets as the required rate ballooned.
